Whole Earth Man v Horse Marathon
For those looking for a unique and exhilarating experience, the Whole Earth Man v Horse Marathon is not to be missed. Originating from a casual debate over a few beers at the Neuadd Arms Hotel in 1980, this event pits human runners against horses over a challenging long-distance course. This year’s marathon will be held on the 15th of June in Llanwrtyd Wells.
The course was modified in 1982 to create a fairer competition between man and horse, resulting in some incredibly close finishes over the years. It took 25 years before a human finally beat a horse, and since then, only a few have repeated the feat. Whether you participate (!) or simply spectate, this event is sure to be a thrilling experience.
