Zip World Tower
Phoenix is the star attraction at Zip World Tower, on the former Tower Colliery site in Aberdare, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Containing two incredible zip lines, Phoenix is a record-breaker, being the fastest seated zip line in the world, and Zip World’s steepest. Traveling at speeds up to 70 mph and with four lines situated side by side, it’s an absolute thrill ride!
The first zip line takes you down Rhigos mountain, across the Llyn Fawr reservoir, offering stunning views of the Cynon Valley and enjoying the very fastest speeds, racing in to the landing point as you fly above the trees. The second line returns you back to Tower Colliery and the Zip World site, spanning over 1.5 kilometres in total.
Also on site is the Tower Coaster, a perfect family adventure a bit closer to solid ground. This October you can also experience Monsters of the Mine, which runs 13 October until 1st November 2023. This terrifying fright fest is perfect for Halloween, with a variety of rides and immersive experiences to curdle the blood!

Bike Park Wales
An international destination for mountain bikers, BikePark Wales has the UK’s greatest and most diverse selection of all-weather mountain bike trails. The facility features a vehicular uplift service to transport you to the top of the trails, bike and equipment hire, coaching, guiding and an on site café, offering everything you need for a great day on the mountain. Bike Park Wales is perfect for those who wish to try gravity mountain biking for the first time, and also a destination for those with years of experience, with expert trails to test the very best riders in the world.

Cantref Adventure Farm
For adventures on four legs, head to Cantref Adventure Farm, the only centre licenced to take Pony Treks up on to the main peaks of the Brecon Beacons. You can enjoy spectacular views of the Brecon Beacons National Park from the unique vantage point in the saddle. Pony Treks range from a Full Day, Half a Day, Hour Ride to 20 Minutes. All rides include a demonstration and basic instruction.
A family run horse riding centre, Cantref was established over 45 years ago, and is approved by the Wales Trekking and Riding Association, The Adventure Activities Licencing Authority, Pony Club. They have rides to suit all ages and riding abilities, well schooled horses and ponies in all shapes and sizes, and a team of highly knowledgeable and friendly staff to look after you during your pony trek. Cantref also has an adventure farm, which has a variety of opportunities for the kids to interact with animals in a fun and informative way. Dolygaer Outdoor Centre
From canoeing to caving, archery to rock climbing, Dolygaer Outdoor Centre has professional instruction and guided sessions for you. How about gorge walking? An activity that puts you right on the front line of the battle between river and mountain, as you will trek down, across and through the river’s path. Dolygaer Outdoor Centre focus on hands-on experiences, where you have fun and learn skills with expert guidance. If you love getting in amongst it, this could be the place for you!
